Don Toliver and Chase B Eat Everything in the “Cafeteria”

Since capturing everyone’s interest with his “Can’t Say” feature on Travis Scott’s Astroworld, Don Toliver has taken full advantage of his opportunity, dropping a successful album in Heaven or Hell and earning big hits with “No Idea” and “After Party.” Now, Jackboys’ rising star is really getting into his creative bag, returning to his Houston roots on “Cafeteria” produced by Chase B.

Known for his role as Travis Scott’s tour DJ, this is the first time I have heard Chase B behind the boards and to say I am impressed is an understatement. On “Cafeteria,” he treats us to an impressive blend of styles, tapping into Houston phonk, Brooklyn/UK drill (with percussion) and more psychedelic trap sounds on the Mike Dean assisted outro. Don Toliver effortlessly floats on the beat, bringing a unique vocal presence, while Gunna also provides a captivating guest verse on the back end.

The track is supported by a grainy, 90s style visual featuring Chase B and Don Toliver eating at the famous “Nobu” Sushi restaurant. The song is said to be the lead single for the pair’s upcoming mixtape “Escapism.”

Overall, “Cafeteria” really displays Don Toliver’s starpower and is one of my favorite tracks this year. With his level of talent and chemistry with the team’s in-house producers, things are looking real bright moving forward for Cactus Jack.
